Bookmark Design Contest Offers $100 Prize for Big Read-Inspired Artwork — Decatur Technology news

November 1, 2026 High school and college students can enter a bookmark design contest inspired by the book A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines. The contest is part of the Decatur Area Arts Council’s Big Read initiative, which encourages Macon County residents to read the book and participate in community conversations. Students are invited to create an original, full-color bookmark design that shares a positive message inspired by the story. Digital designs, including photography and graphic design, are welcome, but AI-generated artwork will not be accepted. The winning design will receive a $100 prize and be printed on bookmarks distributed throughout the community. Entries must be submitted as a PDF by email to [email protected] by 11:59 p.m. November 16th. Each person may submit one entry. The finished bookmark design must measure two inches by six inches.
